Midsummer Brunch and
Botanic Garden Open Afternoon

10.00 to 16.00 - Sunday 17 June 2018

MGAP Event Information

Last year´s midsummer brunch went so well that we thought we would do it again. Sue and Mike Lis have generously offered to host it at their house outside Messines on the morning of Sunday June 17th, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. As last year, please bring food and drink to share.

To register for the brunch, please let our Events Coordinator Tessa Hearn know as soon as you can if you would like to come, so that Sue and Mike know how many people to expect. There is a limit on numbers, but there should be room for everyone.

As the garden visiting didn´t happen this year for various reasons, we thought it would be interesting to see what members gardens look like, so we would like you to bring a photo or two of your garden or part of it. It doesn´t matter if it is at the initial stages, or just reconstructed, or for any other reason is not picture-book perfect, it will be a good talking point.

In the afternoon, from 1:30 until 4 p.m., the MGAP Botanic Garden at the Quinta da Figueirinha in Silves is having an Open Afternoon. Rosie Peddle and Teresa Chuva will be on hand to show you round and talk about the garden - or you could just have a lazy stroll on your own. You will also be able to see how the Barrocal Botanic Garden is progressing after its first summer “test”. This afternoon “Open Garden” is open to everyone, no pre-booking necessary.

As importantly, it is an informal social event where members and guests can get to know each other in a relaxed and pleasant environment - hopefully setting a regular trend of many at the Botanic Garden as it grows and develop in the years to come.
